Jodie Feist

Owner & Optician

Jodie has been a NYS Licensed Optician since 1991. As the owner of Spectacular Eyewear she strives everyday to share her enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of the eyecare industry with the community. With her special talent for choosing the perfect eyewear for each individual, she is able to design the ideal pair of eyeglasses that will express each client’s personality and lifestyle needs. Once you’ve visited Jodie at Spectacular Eyewear, you’ll feel like you’ve made a friend for life!

In her spare time, she can be found spinning to latin beats on the dance floor.

Joseph Lerner

Owner & Optician

Joseph has owned Eyeglass House since July 1990. He became a NYS Licensed Optician in 1983 and trained for 8 years at an upscale NYC eyewear boutique before purchasing Eyeglass House. Joseph has designed and nationally distributed his own frame line, he is also a beta tester for a prominent manufacturer of lens edging equipment.

Joseph is married and has two children. He enjoys road biking and weight training.

Dr. Karen Perekalsky

Optometrist

Dr. Karen Perekalsky is a licensed optometrist who provides family vision and eye care services. She has extensive training and over 20 years of experience in the treatment and management of ocular diseases, such as dry eyes, conjunctivitis, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and many more. Dr. Perekalsky is passionate about helping people see clearly and takes great pride in her work and care of her patients.

Dr. Perekalsky received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Russian literature from Brandeis University in 1999 and her Doctorate of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry in 2006. After graduation, Dr. Perekalsky completed a one year fellowship in cornea disease and contact lens management in NYC. Her advanced training in complicated contact lens fittings allows her to treat patients with irregular corneas and complex prescriptions. She also performs both soft and rigid gas permeable contact lens fittings for presbyopia (multifocal/monovision), astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia prescriptions. Dr. Perekalsky became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2009 and served as an adjunct clinical professor at SUNY Optometry school from 2012-2014.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family raising her twins, seeing friends, traveling, dancing and photography.

Claudia Pfluger

Optician

Claudia Pfluger has been a NYS Licensed Optician since 1982. Prior to joining Spectacular Eyewear, Claudia had been affiliated with a prestigious eyewear firm in Manhattan. With over 39 years in the industry, Claudia’s calm and professional demeanor reassures patients they are being well cared for in every way. From choosing the correct frame and lens design to adjusting the eyewear perfectly on delivery.
Her extensive experience and expertise has been a welcome addition to the Spectacular Eyewear Family for over 17 years. Claudia is an NYSSO, and ABO affiliate.

In her spare time, Claudia can be found happily biking, running and generally loving the outdoors.

Gail DeClue

Optician

Gail is a NYS Licensed Optician and has been with Eyeglass House for over 15 years with 25+ years experience in the optical field. Gail’s witty honesty makes your frame selection process fun and easy. She is on top of all the latests trends and lens technologies. She promises you will leave LOVING your new eyewear. Gail also specializes in contact lens insertion and removal trainings.

Gail is a PTA, soccer mom to two beautiful girls. Together with her husband, they love boating, the beach and skiing down a mountain of fresh snow.

Ilissa Cerbone

Optician

Ilissa has been a NYS Licensed Optician since 1991. Being a part of the Eyeglass House family for the past 30+ years has allowed her to create long lasting relationships with her patients. They trust her with their eyes and know that she will make them “see” and “look” spectacular in their eyewear.

Ilissa is married and has 2 teenage boys. She loves spending her summers at the beach and travelling with her family.

Katya Jaworski

Receptionist

Katya is known for her calm demeanor and attention to detail. She is committed to making each patient’s visit a pleasant and stress-free experience. Katya helps manage appointment scheduling, patient check-ins, insurance verification, and day-to-day front desk operations with accuracy and efficiency. With a strong understanding of optical terminology and procedures, she always brings a warm and positive attitude with her.

How many optometrists work at Spectacular Eyewear?

We currently have one optometrist, Dr. Karen Perekalsky, OD, FAAO. Dr. Perekalsky sees patients Tuesday through Saturday at our Plainview office and has over 20 years of experience in family eye care and ocular disease management.

Are your opticians licensed in New York State?

Yes. Every optician on our team holds a current NYS Optician license. Our team has over 100 years of combined optical experience between them.

Can I request a specific optician for my fitting?
